My dear friend D.Lake has informed me that Michael W. Smith may have borrowed from Debbie Gibson. I would hate to think this is true, but you can't argue with the evidence. I think he at least borrowed her hat:

You know, I really think that argyle gets way more grief than it deserves. MWS proves once and for all that argyle is genuinely and unequivocally "cool". In a horribly uncool kind of way. I think I saw Sean from Worth Dying For do that same jump in concert. OMG!!! OMG!!!
Please do take pictures of those and send them over. I like to celebrate the Texas Cults as much as possible.
